'As an investment manager with many years of experience I was very comfortable talking with clients one on one, or giving small presentations to Trustees, for example. However, I was asked to give a presentation to a conference of over 400 people and I knew I needed help as I completely lacked the confidence to carry this off. I turned to Sandra for help and Sandra immediately and patiently took me through breathing exercises to help support my voice. Preparation is everything and Sandra was a good critic and listener, making me practice my speech and enabling me to hone and make my comments more focussed by showing me how to give the right intonation to the key messages. The conference went extremely well and I continue to use Sandra’s techniques quite subconsciously as they have given me such excellent inner confidence.'

'Having never spoken at length, to groups over 20 or so people, I felt nervous about standing on a big stage for the first time in front of a few hundred people and presenting for an hour.  I've always struggled to be in complete control of my breathing and if anything, I desperately wanted to appear seasoned and credible at presenting to large groups. Sandra spent a couple of sessions with me where we worked on core breathing techniques, voice projection and articulation. I have to say that her advice and the simple exercises we practiced made a huge difference and I felt far more in control and prepared on the day. I actually ended up rather enjoying the experience by the end and I would like to thank Sandra for playing a huge part in helping me to feel that way. She's a fantastic teacher and apart from anything it was really good fun!'

I went to see Sandra Porter because I wanted to be able to shout in order to attract the attention of family and especially small, wandering grandchildren when we're outdoors. Until I retired a few years ago I was a senior curator in the Victoria & Albert Museum and was very capable of delivering lectures, conference papers and presentations, with or without microphones. I have a strong voice but whenever I made an effort to project it outside, it got stuck in my throat and only a fairly high-pitched, strangled sound emerged. Within the first few minutes of the session Sandra was able to identify problems with my breathing and with tension in my jaw. She gave me a few simple exercises to do and I could hear the difference in my voice. She explained what was happening and has given me the techniques I need to free my voice.
